Caitlin Fitzgerald is a multidisciplinary artist based in Massachusetts with deep roots in New Orleans, working in stained glass, illuminated manuscripts, ceramics, and sculpture.

Her practice is research-driven and materially specific — rooted in medieval folk tradition, pre-Christian belief, and the stubborn persistence of things that were supposed to be forgotten. A 2025 residency at Peaked Hill Trust in Provincetown supported the continued development of that work with a specific focus on creating pigments from forade materials from the Cape Cod National Seashore.

She holds a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University with a concentration in stained glass, and has continued her training at the Corning Museum of Glass and in Siena, Italy with Vertrate Artistiche Toscane. Her work has been shown across the country, collected internationally, and is represented by LeMieux Gallery in New Orleans. A Mass Cultural Council grant supports her ongoing expansion of the stained glass practice.

The research lives at the Boston Public Library, in museum collection databases, in out-of-print inquisitors’ treatises, and occasionally in sand dunes where she’s looking for something worth grinding into pigment.

Commissions

Stained Glass  – I take commissions for custom stained glass — from smaller format suncatchers to large panels, drawing on traditional techniques including glass painting, fused glass, and lead came construction. If you have a window, a space, or an idea, let’s talk.

Jackalopes & Creatures – My bedazzled creature sculptures have shipped around the world and live in galleries, living rooms, and at least one very specific kind of cabinet of curiosities. Custom creatures are available — if you want something that doesn’t quite exist, that’s the point.

Most commissions find me through Instagram or Etsy — both are good places to see current work and start a conversation.

You can also find my work for sale at LeMieux Gallery, in New Orleans.
